Mostly wrong guesses here, that is my assumption. Doesn't fit in

The grays are still here, etc. Their activities did not stop in 1984.

The 'aliens' are of many different races and origins. The grays are simply
one of 'them'.

The Aliens created human beings from an experiment they conducted
millions of years ago. They
found some sort of monkey, one close to a human in activity and
appearance (perhaps a chimp).
They took the DNA of their own kind (the grays) and mixed it with the
monkeys DNA. The result:
A more intelligent monkey. A new species. They did the experiment on
many chimps and created
around 60 or 70 of these creatures. They then left the planet to
observe every couple years. The
creature managed to live off its habitat, mate, and continue living.
The population grew. A couple
million years later the species had evolved into the human beings we
are familiar with now. These
"Humans" were becoming smarter and smarter. They began wondering about
their past, and how
they got here. The "Grays" did not want the humans to know the truth.
They decided to send one
of themselves down to Earth. This gray took the form of a small human
fetus and was planted
inside a virgin woman. The human baby was born. It grew to an adult
age, and was known as
"Jesus." He then preached to people about a god. A god who gave life
to them. The stupid
humans believed him and worshipped a god that didn't exist. The time
came when the human body
(Jesus) wasn't needed anymore. They sent mental messages to the king
telling him to crucify the
body. He did so and the Gray was sent back to the Mothership. For
about 2000 years after this, the
Aliens have been studying the human species by abducting them and
doing tests.

In the year 1984 the aliens looked at our wars, barbaric ways, and
stupidity. They realized they had
wasted a couple million years on a species of idiotic fools. No hope
was left for the human beings.
The Grays left this planet for good, leaving the humans to destroy a
perfectly good planet with their
pollution and nukes.
