#1. SMART-1 arrives at the Moon

Probe proves ion-drive technology and may uncover lunar secrets.

It's been a long trip, but Europe's first Moon mission is finally nearing its goal. SMART-1, launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) way back on 27 September 2003, will go into orbit around the Moon on 15 November.

In January, the craft will begin the first comprehensive X-ray survey of the Moon's surface, giving scientists clues about its composition and age. This geological map will help scientists to establish exactly how the Moon formed.

The size of a domestic washing machine, SMART-1 uses an innovative propulsion system that wafts the craft along on a breath of gas. It carries solar panels that convert the Sun's light into electricity, which is used to strip electrons away from atoms of xenon. This generates charged ions that are accelerated through a magnetic field and ejected from the rear of the spacecraft, producing a gentle thrust equivalent to the weight of two pennies resting on the palm of your hand.

#2. Researcher says Atlantis was near Cyprus

Researcher claims to have found the lost civilization of Atlantis in the watery deep off Cyprus - adding his theory to a mystery that has baffled explorers for centuries.

Robert Sarmast says a Mediterranean basin was flooded in a deluge around 9000 B.C., which submerged a rectangular land mass he believes was Atlantis, lying a mile (1.5 kilometers) beneath sea level between Cyprus and Syria.

�We have definitely found it,� said Sarmast, who led a team of explorers 50 miles (80 kilometers) off the southeast coast of Cyprus earlier this month.

#4. Are there parallel worlds?

DAN FALK details how string theory -- the so-called theory of everything -- might explain the structure of the universe. Of course, for it to work, there have to be a few extra dimensions

We live in three dimensions: You can go north-south, east-west or up-down. Simple enough. If you add one more dimension for time -- as Albert Einstein suggested -- that's four altogether.

That's plenty for most of us. And, until recently, it would have been enough for most physicists as well. But the past few years have brought a flurry of new ideas about the structure of the universe, and physicists are now contemplating multidimensional worlds that put our seemingly-three-dimensional surroundings to shame.

#5. The John Tosti Story

As Ufologists we hear many stories of unusual encounters and sightings of exotic crafts flying through our day and night skies. Every once in a while we come across a case that truly defies explanation. This is one of those cases I am writing about now. I was contacted recently and was sent a couple of photos of something unusual. At least for now it remains unexplained. At first the conversation started over the object itself but what I didn't realize was, that there was a lot more to come.

This story comes from a man by the name of John Tosti who resides in the southern part of Bloomington, Indiana on acreage in a rural setting and who has lived in the area for many years. Back in his younger days he was an avid hunter and enjoyed being in the outdoors. John would leave his home roughly around 4:00 to 5:00 a.m., before the sun had risen so he could get to the back of his property in hopes of spotting game. One day as he made ready to head out, John walked onto his front porch and quickly noticed three bright spherical shaped lights which appeared to be floating above the top of the trees.

#7. Spontaneous Human Combustion

Spontaneous Human Combustion is the ability of the human body to blister or smoke or otherwise ignite in the absence of an external identifiable known source of ignition. In classic spontaneous human combustion the body burns itself more completely than can normally be achieved at a crematorium. The fires are internal in origin.

Larry Arnold has written a book titled, "Ablaze: The Mysterious Fires of Spontaneous Human Combustion" and heads a group called, ParaScience International. In 22 years he has documented over 400 cases that span the past hundred years. There is no known reason for this phenomenon.

Human beings suddenly burst into flames for no discernible reason. The burning is never spontaneous. There is always an ignition source present in the room nearby the victim. The body is normally more severely burned than one that has been caught in a normal fire. The burns are not distributed evenly over the body; the extremities are usually untouched by fire, whereas the torso usually suffers severe burning. In many cases the torso is completely destroyed, the bones being reduced completely to ash.

#8. Soviet Army fought UFOs

Soviet military encountered many UFOs, maybe for this reason in the end of the 60s a secret laboratory of researching "flying objects" was created in the USSR.

UFO researchers often blame the military of hiding the cases of alien rockets and disseminating false information of UFO. Army officers are not interested in the disputes about alien civilizations, they are interested in knowing what impact UFO can impose to military equipment and personnel.

1947. Antiaircraft guns of Transcaucasian Military District fired on the flying cigar-shaped object which came from the side of the Turkish border. The object"s flying altitude was below 4,000 meters, and the guns were capable of reaching a target at the altitudes up to 12,000 meters, but that time the fire made no harm to the "cigar". Then the cigar increased its speed and flew away over the mountains.

#9. Mysterious spheres

Giant gyros, which often turn out to be nothing more than manufactured ball-bearings found in ordinary check-valve systems still lead to spit opinions on those which can not be proved inconclusively.

In April of 1974 a Jacksonville, Florida, family came across one such sphere on their estate which had all of the properties of a ball bearing yet differed in the fact that it holds a personal property that can not be explained.

According to an old news clipping, this particular globe has magnetic poles, contains within, a series of smaller orbs, is nearly in perfect balance and acts on its own accord. This globe will take the initiative to roll around a table�s edge without dropping to the floor.

#10. Strange Creature In Entre Rios

A farmer from Argentina's Entre Rios province reported that "a strange animal having quasi-human characteristics" caused damage to his henhouse and had been seen prowling the farm-- located in the rural department of Colonia El�a-- on several occasions.

The complaint was made at the Colonia El�a sheriffs' office by Oscar Resteinor, who claimed having witnessed the strange creature's presence around his home for some twenty days.

We are human and physical just as you, except for the fact that our mass consciousness holds thoughts of only Immortality and Perfect Health. Therefore, we can live hundreds and even thousands of years in the same body. I, myself, have been in the same body now for over 600 years. (JW I've seen a painting of Adama and he is a handsome person and looks about 17 years old.) We came here over 12,000 years ago before a thermonuclear w-r took place that destroyed the Earth's surface. We faced such hardships and calamities above ground, that we decided to continue our evo-ution underground.. We had hoped to save all our Lemurian people, but there was only time to save 25 thousand so-ls. The remainder of our ra-e perished in the blast.

#12. The True Story Of Dracula (By Mark Gelbart)

Like the fictional legend, the real Dracula lived in Trannsylvania, now a province of Romania, but in the fifteenth century it was a battleground between the Hungarian Empire and the Turks of the Ottoman Empire. Dracula was a name picked by Vlad Tepes when he joined a fraternal order of knights vowed to protect Christians from muslim Turks. Dracula means both devil and dragon.

Vlad Tepes seized the throne of Trannsylvania in 1436 and tried to stay neutral when the Hungarians went to war with the Turks. Hungary lost the war, and they blamed Vlad who they forced from the throne. In contradiction to his vows as a Christian knight, Vlad allied with the Turks and regained power. However, to insure continued loyalty, Vlad had to leave his two sons, Vlad and Radu, as hostages in Turkey--a common practice during this time period. Vlad, the son, is the one who the legend of Dracula is based on.

In 1444 Hungary went to war with the Ottoman Empire again, and this time the elder Dracula was killed and replaced with the Hungarian puppet kin, Vladislav II. The following series of events was like a game of musical chairs: Vlad, the son, returned with the support of the Turks in an attempt to gain power, Vladislav was afraid that he would lose, so he switched sides and joined the Turks, and Vlad switched sides and allied with the Hungarians. Vlad won.
