What parapsychology is investigating is the link between the non physical
mind and the physical world. That link can be investigated most easily by
investigating the energy fields associated with the aura.
Your brain is physical, but your thoughts in your mind are not physical.
When you will your finger to move, there must be a link between your
non-physical will and your physical finger in order for that finger to move.
This link is what they believe the chi or psychotronic energy to be. Think
about it. That link must be real, otherwise you could not make your physical
body move by will power. And if this link is real, then you must be able to
detect its influence in the physical world using physics measuring
equipment. That is what the physicists involved in parapsychology have done
with the Aura energy and its link to the human mind or will. They can film
changes in the aura energy around the body which respond to a person's will
and they can measure electric and magnetic fields generated by the aura
energy of psychics trying to move objects with just mind power. This chi or
psychotronic energy is the link between the non-physical mind and the
physical body.
Obviously there does have to be a link between mind and body, but
why resort to the exotic "Chi" or psychotronic energy when we have
a perfectly adequate signal transmission system in the central
nervous system? What does chi do that the nervous system cannot?
When you say: "This link is what they believe the chi or psychotronic
energy to be", who do you mean by "they"? I hope you don't mean
mainstream parapsychology because AFAIK they have never made
such a claim. Nor would they; they are far too cautious.
I know of one person, in a parapsychology mailing list who commented
privately that the mind was the closest tangible thing they had to an
example of paranormal activity. I think by that he meant that, whereas
the functioning of the brain could eventually be explained by medical
science - perhaps in terms of quantum tunnelling across synapses** -
the qualia of conscious awareness could not be so explained. He
didn't say so but I gathered he was hinting at Psi.
But NOT Psychotronic Energy please.
