Every claim starts off being "outlandish".
The ridicule that surrounded the purported discovery of "microscopic animals
floating in everyday water" made the scientific community scoff and laugh,
but steadilly it became proven and regarded as fact, and now is solid
science.
The concept of civilisations prior to recorded history (specifically
advanced civilisations) is hardly new.
Greeks believed it.
Indians believed it.
African tribes believed it.
In fact, some indian legends describe in quite vivid detail what appears to
be a nuclear war that ended civilisation and brought it to a primative
state. Right up to and including the details of people's hair and nails and
teeth falling out of their skulls before they died a painful death over a
period of months. It's quite explicit, and verifiably ancient legend, that
I recall (its been a few decades since I read it).
Ever heard of the "missing link"?
There are any number of scientific anomalies that could very easilly be
explained by the fact that our current understanding of a timeline is
incorrect, and that in fact we are the remnants of at least one previous
wave of civilisation.
I'm not saying I support it or believe it, but I'm certainly open to its
possibility.
It doesn't strike me as being particularly impossible.
Just thought I'd mention it.

Pravda is Russia's version of the National Enquirer. They constantly
publish outlandish stories. A few months back I read a story published
by Pravda about some scientist finding the wreckage of an alien
spaceship in the area where the Tunguska Explosion took place back in
1908. An obvious complete fabrication, Pravahas no problem publishing
it as fact. To the paranoids, the black hat squad must have buried the
story. LOL
