That's a self-contradictory statement. "Annihalation of all life" would be 
a rather dramatic change from the current status quo.

so i think it's likely that the current alien visitation to earth
(so massive as to boggle the mind), is indicative of the word
is out in the universe that a class M planet will soon be
available for rehabitation once the current occupants are gone

The number of UFO reports haven't increased much since the 50's. If 
considered as a percentage of population, it would actually mark a slight 
decrease.

No, what really boggles the mind is the number of hysterical doom 
prophecies that keep popping up and routinely failing. I suspect Dr. Doilot 
will keep predicting immenent disaster for years, never admitting her 
mistake, until she finally passes on. And the Earth will keep spinning, and 
life will continue for several billion more years, until the Sun goes out.
