technology barely distinguishable from magic.

Why are alien fantasies always like that?  I'd like to see a sci-fi movie 
just once where a klunky bucket of bolts crash-lands, spilling the ancient 
skeletal remains of the alien space travelers who misjudged the vast 
distances of the universe, and the enormous quantities of time needed to 
travel them.
