There is no mystery.  I was involved in building the rig (welder) and I
was the first to come forward several months ago in this group.  Two
engineers from Intel designed and financed the hoax, which has now
become legendary.


I've been asked for photos of the rig, tons of photos and movies exist
and were taken the night it was flown over Phx.  Photos showing it
being built could be anything, you'd just see a couple guys welding and
riviting metal beams together.  The frame breaks down into three
sections.


I'm not going to repeat that entire post, go do a google search and
find it for yourself.  I know I''m not going to change the minds of
those who really believe it was a UFO, but for anyone who wants a
serious explanation of what the Phownix Lights mystery really was the
info has been presented.
