Friend of mine worked on the SR-71 during its construction (yes, she
*is* a rocket scientist). She says that was the most beautiful plane
she'd ever seen, and I certainly agree.
Did you know that they were completely unarmed? Not even a pop gun. By
the time it got off a shot it would be miles away from the intended
target.
The only things that beat it for ground surveillance is a satellite.
