Semi-conductors, such as germanium, had been used for decades as diodes
and such. Ever hear of a 'crystal radio' ? The step to making
semiconductor diodes into triodes (transistors) was a matter for
detailed research and experimentation, the path of which is well
documented. Multiple components on a single chip of semicomductor had
been around for years, such a bridge rectifier. It was just a
developmental step to adding transistors and increasing the number of
components as they could be made smaller.
Anyone with two clues to rub together can see that it is the result of
hard work and step by step development. Nothing 'magically appeared'.
