Actually they _usually_ don't. What research did you make to come to
this conclusion ? Oh, I know, you just made it up.
If they didn't commit the crimes in the first place there wouldn't be any
evidence.
What relevence is that ? Perhaps you will next conclude that 'no
evidence' shows there was no crime.
In any case many of the 'confessions' are in fact plea bargains. They
admit to something to shortcut the trial and get a guaranteed result
rather than be procesecuted for what they actually did and maybe get a
longer sentence. These plea bargains are actually lies in that they are
less than the actual events.
Your idea of what is 'best evidence' is sadly lacking.
