Spence's theory was inspired by the subtle
deviations in the alignment of the pyramid bases
from true north. The Khufu (Cheops) pyramid is

Now the dogma of the new UFOlogy religion is that the pyramids are in
perfect alignment and all the prior structures that deminstrate the
development process are ignored or dismissed.

The small alignment differences and even the unequal sizes are denied,
ignored, or are some sort of special message left by ET. That they are
exactly the sort of magnitude of error that can be expected from
methods available to humans of the time is dismissed.

concrete measurements, then you can look at
