snipped for reasons of space/memory...
Earth's religions are particularly screwed up.
ie. Judaism, Christianity and Islam, particularly are.
But that's because people have distorted them, corrupted them.
Their original teachings condemn what's being done, but that
message has been lost from them over 2000 years of gradual
corruption, reinterpretation, dogma, etc. WE screwed them up.
It is 'they' screwed up. ie. the clergy, priests those who
gained power through being the interpreters for God.
The public gets screwed because the teachings passed onto us,
are not the original teachings and ideas, that were meant to be
conveyed to us.
We see it again and again, in our modern times, how with new
religions - they are simply after power and control, and they
don't provide us with any decent teachings at all.
Well, the original teachings have been screwed up, yes, but I
do not believe that they refer to some sort of space aliens
(although I also believe that aliens exist. There's too much not
to.). I think that they really do refer to some "super-natural" (as
in *infinitely* beyond nature) Being -- God, even if they are not
literal, and instead are symbolic, metaphor. The religions texts,
when interpreted properly, without the dogma of the religious
organizations like the Church guiding one, DO have decent
lessons in them.
Also, what do you consider to be "decent teachings"?
This sums up what the ETs would teach us...
http://www.avilabooks.com/Jmmanuel1.htm
The intro is here
http://www.avilabooks.com/Jmmanuel.htm
There is a story that some visiting ETs were appreciative of
Christianity, so much so they took it back to their home planet,
and it simply started up wars there, and was then banned.
Well, Christianity _originally_ was not like it is now. It has been
corrupted, and that's why it's that way. If it did start wars (and
I don't know this, this is anecdote, so I'm not going to dogmatically
take it as "truth".), then it's because WE have corrupted it. The
original message is gone.
Point not answered...
I think someone mentioned that the aliens believe in the universe
being God. To that effect.
Note - the above material plainly says that the origin of God,
was that of an ET ruler who wanted worshipping.
He appeared to be a God too - was a giant and lived for a couple
of thousand years, his offspring who succeeded him, also lived
for a long time - this may account for the different names for God
in the Bible.
All gods on Earth, were ETs. Full stop.
For every culture.
Then where do you believe the universe originated? What began it?
God has to exist. Who created the entire universe? Where did these
aliens originate from? The Universe. Where did the Universe originate
from? uhh... uhhh... uhhhh...
Harvey
In that material I referenced to - the basic teaching is -
that 'the Creation' is responsible for everything in this universe
and beyond. That it is a process, and that planets themselves in
the right conditions will produce life of themselves.
Those in an life bearing zone, will eventually develop life, and
eventually humans too. There is also the faster process of
space travellers accelerating this process by interbreeding with
the native humans.
Everything man does to this planet, our home, he does to himself.
We reap what we sow, or take away.
We know it is a finite earth, with finite resources - we should
of course respect it, otherwise we are only accelerating our own
death and demise on this planet.
So, then, do you believe in God, as in an entity, that transcends all
"physical" or "natural" laws, and is infinite in extent, power,
everything,
who "Created" the universe and everything beyond it (except, of course,
for Himself, who has always existed)?
Also, if we *did things right*, and *didn't* persist with the crap
we've been
persisting with today, do you believe, we as a species, could survive a
million years?
