primative and a threat ? LOL
thats like saying the confederate army (some 100 years remove in
technology) would be a threat to a major militray power of today.

Any civilazation 1,000....10,000 or 100,000 more years adavanced then
us (a time frame that is a cosmic blink mind you) would laugh at the
mear idea of the "threat of such a primative society".

There's more to being a threat than military strength. A virus is primitive,
and yet a virus can kill billions. We are a threat to ourselves and to our
own planet and in some ways act very much like a virus, because we don't
necessarily intend to destroy it just something we do so well.

That said if ETs wanted to wipe us all out or even simply arrest our
development it wouldn't be particularly difficult. They could engineer a
virus or simple throw a large rock at our planet. They may already have done
that in the past. In fact most religious texts talk about ET "gods"
punishing humankind and arresting technologial development. E.g the Tower of
Babel story.

On the other hand it is weel documented that gemni,  apollo and the
space shuttle have ALL reported quote "alien space craft"

to think we are alone and that chemistry inherent to this planet is
unique to the cosmos is absurd.

Well yes even though NASA scientists seem to go out of their way to evade
the issue. One doesn't need a Phd to understand Mars is red, caused by Iron
Oxide and that contains oxygen. And generally speaking you need water and
free oxygen to get iron oxide. On Earth the free oxygen is a by product of
life e.g photosynthysis. Considering the huge quanities of Iron Oxide on
Mars it would IMO be difficult to account for all that oxygen by anything
other than past life, and if there was life in the past it seems highly
likely there are still pockets of life on Mars, particularly beneath the
surface.

But even if there isn't life on Mars it seems clear life will take root
wherever the conditions are favourable.

Well conventional flight is a technological dead end, you can make more
streamlined planes and use better engines and find ways to use fuel more
efficiently and fly faster or even make the wings flap. But unless we
develop some other means of flight such as antigravity. Conventional
aircraft technology is going nowhere. In fact we are resurrecting older
technology such as the airship. To some extent we now have technological
regression, in the aircraft industry, we've even pensioned off Concord and
seem to have abandoned supersonic passenger flight.

That's true.

On the other hand i wouldn't expect the goverment to say GUESS WHAT ?
We're being visted, we don't where they're from or why they're here,
IF they're are hostile we're pretty much defenseless But we thought
you'de might like to know.

Well yes no government is going to admit to being powerless. They do like to
reassure the population and wave their big macho toys. Yet a government cant
even survive against the concerted will of the people let alone a race of
ETs LOL. :)
