  The dream didn't explain why humans emigrated to Earth from Rigel 1.

hypothesis is that they exterminated all the funny-looking faces, and
then ate all the other forms of life, and  so accidentally created a
sterile planet with a mean surface temperature of 150 degrees, and so -
they didn't get along with Rigel 1 either!

  That seems to satisfy Occam's Razor. The last question is: Is there a
Rigel 1?

Rigel is a spectral class B8 supergiant with a luminosity about forty
thousand times that of the Sun and good chunk of that luminosity is in the
ultra violet. You wouldn't want to be anywhere near this system unless you
are planning on getting a serious tan. It's also much younger than the Sun
as stars of Rigel's mass don't last very long on the main sequence.
