Rigel is a spectral class B8 supergiant with a luminosity about forty
thousand times that of the Sun and good chunk of that luminosity is in the
ultra violet. You wouldn't want to be anywhere near this system unless you
are planning on getting a serious tan. It's also much younger than the Sun
as stars of Rigel's mass don't last very long on the main sequence. 

It's also some two to three hundred parsecs away from here. I suppose 
that's four to six days' journey. ;)
