The plutonium bomb was not made for years as it comes from the waste
material of nuclear power stations  the first was not made until about 1960
and this stuff is available in tonnage quantities and nobody known what to
do with it.

You should really learn *some* facts before you talk.  The
very first atomic explosion was a Plutonium bomb

They decided they had to test the Plutonium bomb because
they were not 100% confident in the implosion scheme, which
was required to prevent a "fizzle".  The bomb which was
dropped on Hiroshima ("Little Boy")

used highly enriched Uranium in a much simpler gun
configuration, which they felt did not need to be tested.
