As I beleive that all governments should contribute to this projects
and this is an unlikly scenario then we al lshould help out in anyway

As I told in my last participation and with all my recognition to
Carl Sagan´s work, I think human being is not allone in Cosmos, and
all of us that could developed any experience in some scientific
field, Neurosurgery in my case (because I think is one of the most
complete disciplines in Neuroscience), have the responsibility of stay
awake in case of stablishment contact with other intelligence
lifekind. Because, as a medical scientists and even more
Neuroscientist, we learn a lot of new neural physiologic and organic
responses in labs and with our patients seeing their clinical
evolution, but sometimes we couldn't make more for them with
pathologies like Cancer ó Vascular Malformations between others that
are fatal at present time. So, if we stablish contact with that kind
of intelligence and they have more advanced technology than us or even
in the remote case that we have better (?) technology than them, no
matter what, we need to be ready to share anything with open mind. Of
course, it's very important that never permit or even think to destroy
anything related with this project, no matter if it could appear false
or unbeliveable to others, specially people that know nothing of any

Sagan at Cornell and have always believed this is our imperative. Also

signal now would only be useful to send a more positive message to any
scared ET's hanging near Sol. More likely everybody else is talking
through a faster medium and we need to get online NOW! Suppose ET has

Find, meet and visit ET
Finding ET cannot be bad for humanity. I also have powerful computer
that doesn't do much most of the time so I decided to give it a job to
do in it's spare time and this was best I could find.
Finding ET is fun, plus i'm an astronomy student and computer
hobbyist, how could i not participate?
Finding ET may not be for the overall GOOD of humanity, but it will
allow humanity to finally prove that we are not alone. It stands to
reason that life out there will invariably be like life here, some
good, some bad. The benefits of this outweigh the bad stuff. Thats why
I elected to participate.
Finding ET will spur more basic scientific research
Finding ET will wake people up.
Finding ET will, at last, change the way we think and make humanity
realise we need to get out there rather than fight wars
Finding ET would be cool but being part of this huge distributed
computing effort is definitely a big part of it
Finding ET would be one of the most important events in human
history.
Finding ET would be very exciting
Finding ET would have a profound effect on humanity, but what that
might be is still unknown. It is an interesting question that I would
like to have answered, even though this approach may not answer it.
For all of you skeptics, you can never prove that ET doesn't exist,
just like you can never prove that God doesn't exist, so get over it
(but keep your computer on).
Finding ET, and using my spare CPU time for a good purpose

that we are able to corresponde with them, We should find them so that
we can know for sure that we are not allown in the Universe, though I
am sure that many as I agree that we are not alone anyway.

Finding a far off signal, from an alien civ would of course be
interesting. Here's some questions: Once we find it, what do we do
with it. Sure we can tell that maybe nature did not produce the
signal.. But will we be able to know what the signal says. With out
that, all the signal will be is controversy.
Finding a much more advanced civilization would be advantageous so we
to can avoid self distruction , perhaps THEY can provide us with ways
to salvage our planet before we make it completely inhabitable ...
eliminate disease ,wars and starvation. Perhaps these are difficult
problems for us but perhaps another cvilization took a different road
along their technological highway ... perhaps greed does not obsess
them . Finding other beings at the same level we are would still be
incredible...

planet
Finding just one possible signal is payment enough, finding one real
signal blows all theories of our place in the universe out of the
water of the heavens.

How could I not? After downloading the program, there was the chance
that *I* might find the signal. After that I just couldn't turn the
computer off. Which lead to an odd exchange with my girlfriend: Me;
I've just downloaded this cool screensaver, it looks for aliens! Her;
That's nice honey. (some hours later) Her; Honey, you've left the
computer on. Me; Yeah, it's looking for aliens. Her; You have to leave
the computer on, because aliens might be trying to contact us? Me
(straight faced); Yes, that's right.... I'm sure she thought she'd
just moved in with a person with problems beyond the dreams of
analysts.
How knows ?
However slim the chances of success, the importance of contact make
the effort worthwhile.

futile. If the government paid for SETI, it would take away from
funding for valid space advancement as well as other gains in

why SETI@home is such a great idea. It "wastes" little money, and the
advantages to being successful far outweigh the time and effort used
by interested private people.

from TV, radio and all other sources leaving the planet? Certainly not
a directed signal, but...

I have seen UFO's on several occasions over the last 40 years, I
believe the Gov. knows what and who they are. But WE THE PEOPLE
deserve to KNOW who they are and where they are from! WE THE PEOPLE of
Planet Earth need to know [deserve to know!!] who our neighbors are,
then learn to live with, as well as, learn from each other! Our
governments will never tell us anything but the same lies told to us

starts running SETI or paying for Seti operations, Seti will just
