It has everything to do with 'it'.  If some people are resistant to
radioactivity, since Earth is radioactive, then they might survive.

See, now you never mentioned radioactivity. I was talking about
oil catastrophe -- which will strike *first*. What determines how
many people survive the oil catastrophe is how much food and
other vital resources can be produced in a growthless, non-oil-
dependent economy. That will strike the destructive society we
have down cold and hard. And it has less to do with genetics
and more to do with cold hard geography, climate, ecology and
other _environmental_ factors.

So then when they lose their civilization they need to carry out
the plan, then how could it still "succeed"? The civilization will
collapse well before we do irreversible and total destruction of
the environment, you know. 25 years until major economic
hardships due to oil depletion, you know. Peak oil means the
point at which oil production forever stops increasing -- it can
only go down. Demand, meanwhile continues to grow, and
the gap therefore becomes ever-widening until some critical
threshold is passed at which point our civilization convulses
and finally crashes. Once it's crashed it can't do much more
damage to the environment now can it? And once it
crashes, all the big corporations' money becomes worthless --
instantly! Puff, like magic, it is gone! There's no more money to
be gained anymore, so the greed trip is put to an end RIGHT
THERE. Bam! Just like that.

Oil and other resources provide an important "clock" as to
how long our present evil civilization can go on for. And
the clocks are ticking.

BTW, I never supported the ol' Nuclear Arsenal, you know.
