they keep writing and posting this stuff because people respond to
them .   talking to them is utterly useless for the reasons you
mention above.  even if no one responds to them they keep compulsively
broadcasting ,  over and over and over ....... cross posting to dozens
of newsgroups until someone will finally respond to them and satisfy
their need !  

everyone they come into contact in real life runs from them when they
hear these people speak. places like usenet are only place left for
them to get someone to respond to them.   drop this sapsucker in your
kill filter  and do us all a favor .... more importantly you will be
doing this poor sick sick   person a favor as well.
