It's probably an picture of something that was launched from the ground in
the part of the video that is cut out, before the part we see. The object
is also probably smaller and closer than we may presume.

The "crash" looks to me like a white-painted piece of glass or pottery
hitting the ground.

Could be, but close look (clicking through a few frames at a time, I still
don't know how to advance 1 by 1) I can see that the crash is way near the
horizon - I can see from the covering effect of the background hills.
