Much if not most of the same tactics attributed to 'skeptibunkers' are also
used by the 'True Believers'...
if you consider the pseudospeak, technobabble, and outright falsehoods
spewed by many fanatical 'believers', you'll see that some debunkers have
valid points.
To blindly accept any/all claims of ET existence is just as ridiculous and
unacceptable as to blindly deny any chance of their existence. There are
those out there who prey on uncritical belief in anything.. just look around
and witness the growth of EcoDoom movements, homeopathic voodoo medicine,
religions, cults, contactees, apocalyptic prophets... every time a
debunker pulls the rug out from under a charlatan, they are doing all of us
a favor. Does 'Johnathan Reed' ring a bell?
Let them look. Let them talk. If you doubt their words, say so. But say
so calmly and rationally. Rather than posting drivel and blindly condemning
with senseless personal attacks and slurs, perhaps each camp would be better
served if one could post facts and knock down the others' arguments point by
point. It would be much better than 'your momma's a whore' and 'you're one
of the evil gubberment conspirators' crap
People are demanding that skeptics not be so quick to deny the tales of the
pro-ET camp; the 'faithful' should extend the same tolerance to the
skeptics. Blind faith either way is dangerous and unacceptable today, with
the daily emergence of hoaxers, opportunists, and the
'Earth-Is-Doomed-But-I-Know-The-Secret-Handshake-To-Get-Into-The-Bomb-Shelter'
and 'make-a-quick-buck-lecturing-as-an-alien-contactee' types. They're out
there, people. And by not questioning them, you allow them use you.
