The ability to get along with others is a sign of good psychological
health. Healthy adults can have discussions with others that do not
degenerate into an exchange of insults. But when you see someone
behaving in a rude, aggressive manner -- online or off -- you can be
sure that you're dealing with someone emotionally immature at the very
least, and in Mop Jockey's case, someone with undeniably significant
mental health problems.

You're dealing with someone who is unemployed or underemployed, who is
angry, bitter, and resentful because the world hasn't met his
expectations, and who lacks the social skills to form meaningful offline
relationships.

The Mop Monkey feels very sorry for himself because he imagines himself
to be some kind of unjustly overlooked genius, and who blames everyone
but himself and everything but his own conduct for his failure to win
the adulation he craves so badly. He has little or no social life, a
filthy little apartment, appalling personal hygiene habits, and the
pasty complexion and scrawny physique you'd expect from someone who
doesn't live a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Aggression online has its origins in the same psychological problems as
aggression in real life. But one big difference between is that this
unparalleled real-life kook is also a coward. He doesn't have the
courage to behave in the real world the way he behaves online, so he
sits pathetically at the keyboard, hour after hour, churning out insults
in a desperate attempt to find relief from the overwhelming sense of
personal inadequacy that is always with him.

And most people, these days, recognize this sort of person right away.
The aggression is a clear sign of emotional ill-health. Why act that way
when it clearly identifies one as an angry, embittered loser? The Mop
Monkey imagines his victims crushed by his verbal assaults and impressed
by his superior wit, when in fact they feel nothing more than distaste
and pity for him. The only one Mop Monkey is fooling is himself.
