Casio's Oceanus line is the only collection of watches to combine this feature set. Particularly hard to match is the sapphire crystal with alarm/chronograph and atomic synchronization. In my experience, a sapphire crystal is the ONLY crystal that can stand unblemished over years of hard wear and is the singular feature of a watch over which I will not compromise.
Other reviews are correct that it is a thick watch, but Oceanus cleverly disguises this fact by tapering the bottom surface so the watch appears much thinner on your wrist.
I was pleasantly surprised that the bracelet is so shiny--making it a strikingly handsome watch. The automatic lighting (such that the face illuminates evenly from its circumferential orange LED light when the wearer angles his wrist in a certain way) is also blissfully intelligent, not bothering to illuminate when environmental luminence would make watch illuminance superfluous.
The watch has FIVE daily alarms. Four movements. A second time zone. And of course is waterproof and solar powered. Pretty amazing feature set, really. I could not be happier with my choice.
I did not buy this watch from Amazon. I find that the watch is accurate to within .1 seconds of the official US time from www.time.gov after 12 hours of time reception and after traveling from New Orleans to New York I was never without the highest reception from Ft. Collins. Its solar cell is fully functional and still read "high" after I stored it in my desk for about 2 weeks. Its LED lights are orange which was somewhat surprising. The LED will automatically turn on in low light when the watch is angled more than 40 degrees from parallel to the ground. This function is somewhat troublesome when driving but can easily be turned off. The hands and every hour marker (except 3 o'clock) have their own green luminescence in low light.
The watch is fairly heavy and is thicker than any other watch I've ever worn, I'd say it's about a centimeter thick. The watch is shinier than the picture on Amazon which shows it to be almost brushed. The smaller dial registers time on a 24 hour scale. The middle tells the battery charge and also records minutes when in chronograph mode. The top records 1/20 second intervals in chronograph mode. The digital display also records the chronograph down to 1/100 of a second. The characters on the digital display are small but I easily adjusted to them. I have found the lap and split times to be very helpful when I swim but I have no tested its memory past 50 laps/splits. The first and second place timers should really only be used when there is a time difference greater than 5 seconds as 1st place will stay on the screen for that long.
Overall, I love this watch. Considering the price and the functionality of the watch, it is well worth it. I have received many compliments about the watch and wear it all the time. However, I would make sure that Amazon includes the instruction manual if purchasing from this website as there are many functions, most of which are very difficult to figure out on your own.
