Weird? I don't think so. A life spent in obtaining great pay for what
you do isn't wasted. I'm sure the debunkers make decent bread doing
their jobs of attempting to discredit certain ideas and to disrupt any
sensible discussion of them.
It's not at all "weird" for those getting the money or even for those
in power using your money to pay them. After all, public recognition
of some of these facts could put a major crimp in the credibility of
your power. The "weird" part is to find that humans are so gullible as
to not be able to figure this out on their own.
It all makes perfect sense. Just ask HVAC.
