So, in essence, Aaron is correct that no one has ever been executed in
a Masonic ritual.

I warmly support Larry,s conclusions, as there is still a lot of
misconception about Masonic vows. The act of treason to the vows was
till the 19th Century taken literally. But in the 20th Century
punishment went more under the legal prisma. If I may add, some
information, to the discussion, Freemasons that were collaborators of
the Portuguese dictatorship were expelled from the Order during the
second half of the 20th Century. One of them turn to be even president
of the legislative assembly in the time of Salazar and animated the
legislation that outlaw freemasonry till 1974..
It happened in Italy with the masons that integrated the very
selective Lodge P2, which connections with the Mafia were later
confirmed. So there is a struggle with people that approach us for
less legitimate endings. For instance the politicians whose agenda is
sometimes very difficult to disguise. When they are condemned by
corruption or other civil suits there is also a great pressure to
Grand Lodges to act. Recently it happen with a Deputy-Grand Master in
