Collision Avoidance Is The Word For The Day. That means, though there
are all these countries on this planet, who may have developed space
craft propulsion technology, to avoid collisions with everything out
there, the space debris, other planets, and so on, when traveling at
speeds beyond the speed of light, you're going to need a pretty good,
well mapped out and organized understanding of our universe.
Even then, with massive craft, travelling at the speed of light or
faster... where would you go ?

We would be in large space craft,
and after 2 years we arrive at
another Sun,
and the planets there are dead or full of methane,
so, we'd say... "Oh, may as well head back to Earth".
Then we go to another Sun,
"Oh, Look its planets are inhabited by Groograrians".

Yes. But we are supposed to do our homework. Somehow, we''ll develop
the systems to map out our universe, and then, we search through the
database of mapped out solar systems to find inhabitable planets with
no majoror humanoid like life forms living. Once we find habitable
planets, with no humanoid life forms, then we go in for further study.
Eventually, we'll find a planet worth exploiting.
