I've been using GG, and while I won't defend its
quality, it had no
problem giving access to these groups. �Artie seems to
think that
unplugging his 24K modem shuts down newsgroups, because
he no longer
sees them.

Wow, this *is* a slow response.  I'm sorry, but I have far less Usenet
time lately.
Archie seems to have never quite "plugged in" his brain.  Some nice
orderlies have probably plugged Archie's brain into a fancy scary
machine a time or two, but it hasn't done enough good.  He seems to
believe that any time he doesn't see the newsgroups, for whatever
reason, that means the groups have been "shut down" and that he's the
one who did it.  He'll probably claim that he's been disabling my
access for the last couple of days.  He's pathetic, really, but even
his one-trick show of insanity is occasionally amusing.  One day, he
may come face to face with some large predator, and tightly shut his
eyes so the predator won't exist.  If that happens, I sincerely hope
someone has a video camera running.
