-----<back cover text>
Where did you come from?
What is your purpose?
What happens when you die?
These questions--and more--are answered in 'The
Bible Explained', which is based on the teachings
of the Holy Bible. The Holy Bible is a collection
of ancient books which claim to be the word of the
one and only God. This one and only God claims to
be the sole creator, owner, and sustainer of all
things; he further claims to hold the one and only
key to eternal life. Are these claims true? Get
the facts and then decide for yourself.
This document is meant to be understood by everyone,
and is therefore written in plain, simple language,
avoiding complex religious jargon.
Understand the Bible like never before.

Wealth and Wisdom
The Economy and Wealth: Money is the lifeblood of
the body economic; and we must all do our part to
keep it circulating, else the body will suffer.
Fear, greed, and vanity causes hoarding, resulting
in the accumulation of great wealth in the hands of
few, which causes the economy to falter. This
congestion can be alleviated through the
instigation of a voluntary jubilee (forgiveness of
debt and restoration of acquired property) once
every fifty years, which, however, is probably
impractical when one considers the strength of
vanity, greed, and fear -- which too often
overrules our potential generosity. Here is a
suggestion: all proceeds made from usury (interest)
should be given to charity; wealth should be kept
only when something useful (a product or service)
is produced in the process.
Wealth and Eternity: The rich man ought to be
careful not to love his wealth more than God, lest
he should lose his place in eternity: "Then He
(Jesus) spoke a parable to them, saying: 'The
ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully.
And he thought within himself, saying, "What shall
I do, since I have no room to store my crops?" So
he said, "I will do this: I will pull down my barns
and build greater, and there I will store all my
crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul,
'Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years;
take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.'" But God
said to him, "You fool! This night your soul will
be required of you; then whose will those things be
which you have provided?" So is he who lays up
treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.'"
[Luke 12:16-21] "Riches do not profit in the day of
wrath, but righteousness delivers from death."
[Proverbs 11:4]
Investing Your Wealth: Our purpose on the earth is
not to accumulate great wealth; our purpose is to
grow spiritually. If you give great wealth to your
children, you do them a disservice, since wealth
may inhibit their willingness to work. Work is a
good thing, as it exercises our God-given talent so
that we may achieve our greatest potential. If you
leave great wealth to your children, what will they
do with it? Will they not use it do destroy
themselves through idleness and excess? Here's how
to invest your wealth: First, leave a reasonable
amount to your children -- based on their
abilities; second, use your wealth to make the
world a better place: "Jesus said to him (a rich
man), 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you
have and give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.'" [Matthew
19:21]
Fair, Balanced, and Joyful: Beware of deceitful
gain: "As a partridge that broods but does not
hatch, so is he who gets riches, but not by right;
it will leave him in the midst of his days, and at
his end he will be a fool." [Jeremiah 17:11] While
deceitful business practices will land you in hell,
overworking will steal your health and leave you
empty in the end: "Do not overwork to be rich;
because of your own understanding, cease! Will you
set your eyes on that which is not? For riches
certainly make themselves wings; they fly away like
an eagle toward heaven." [Proverbs 23:4-5] In all
things, strive for a healthy balance: "Do not be
overly righteous, nor be overly wise: Why should
you destroy yourself? Do not be overly wicked, nor
be foolish: Why should you die before your time?"
[Ecclesiastes 7:16-17] And take the time to enjoy
the fruits of your labour: "I know that nothing is
better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in
their lives, and also that every man should eat and
drink and enjoy the good of all his labour -- it is
the gift of God." [Ecclesiastes 3:12-13]
