No, Andy, it's not nonsense.  I repair these things as a sideline and
have seen about a dozen notebooks fucked-up with dirt from running
24/7 100% processor.  Most of them were running seti, but a couple
were doing that prime-number thing, and one guy had no clue why his
processor was running at 100% utilization.  Fortunately none of these
folks lost a processor because they automatically powered down, but
they were filthy inside, fans had failed, and it cost them a hundred
bucks to have them repaired.

By all means, however, keep yours running.
