Why didn't you just unpack it on the Irix box directly?

It was much easier and faster doing it on the Windoze machine ;)

Perhaps your machine is compromised (that is, hacked). I feel
you pain, in that case, since it has happened to me. But if
it's true, then you really have little alternative to saving
data files that you are *sure* do not hide any trojans, etc.,
reformatting your hard disks and reintalling the entire
operating system from trusted media as well as any applications
you need.

Nope, my Network is clean (no worms, viruses or Trojans).

A clean ftp (check the check sum!) from a trusted source is
worth a try, but if it fails to clear up the problem, then,
pain or not, you've got to do the hard thing.

I downloaded the V3.08 mips4 Client, completely removed the old V3.04 one from the R5000,
and locally unpacked it there (just in case ;) ).
Tomorrow, I will see if it finally gets a Result through :p
