I'm going to be tweaking the overclocking on this thing again while its
nice and hot!
I'll be using memtest86 for the memory tests.
What recommendations are there for checking out the CPU and FPU for
correct operation?
Prime95's 'Torture Test' & let it run for a few hours - I also run
'Toast.exe' for circa ten minutes whilst Prime95 is running to simulate the
start of a WU when it heats up the CPU more than at any other time. The
latest version of Prime95 already heats the CPU up a fair bit whilst running
the smaller FFTs but it doesn't get quite as hot as 'Toast'...
Why Prime95..? Because it uses similar mathematics to SETI@home, it really
loads up the FPU the same as SETI@home and it will report any errors...
Thanks Nick, and good advice. I especially like the note in the startup
dialog about using the program just for stress testing! (:-)) There's
also a good set of links in the notes.
... Might even hunt a prime or few for utilising the program...
Cheers,
Martin
