IMHO, Windows95 will be the fastest OS to use.
(the Linux/WINE could be in the same perfornmance vicinity, but I've never seen any
Benchmark entries where it truly stands out)

So you can eek and extra 30 mins. on a platform that takes 10 days or more to
complete ?

The intel Pentium 166 won't take 10days, it will be in the vinicity of about 45-55 hours.
(really depends on L2 Cache, Memory/Timings and Chipset)

I still use a Pentium 200 as a dedicated cruncher, and it still works nicely (even with
the V3.08 CLI).
