| Subject: Computer freezing with Seti - specific MoBo |

Greetings fellow crunchers.
I have set up several budget computers for friends. These computers have
nearly all been of the same type - a mass-produced MoBo with nic, video,
processor (AMD XP 1800+) and ram (256 Mb SDRAM) soldered on-board. It is
the ECS Elitegroup K7SEM Rev. 3.0M Motherboard
When I install SETI, I install it as a service for efficiency (I do not
use SetiDriver). When it starts, the computer is responsive for all of
thirty seconds, then it completely locks up. It does not unfreeze at
all. I have checked the system logs, and nothing appears to be amiss. No
entries, nothing. The computer simply locks up. No BSOD, nothing.
This has only occurred on one type of MoBo. I have yet to try the
installation of Seti *before* SP1/WindowsUpdate, so I don't know if
SP1/WinUpdate is the problem. Has anyone else come across this MoBo and
experienced the same issue?
TIA.
