I read about the speed others process their SETI packets, and I think
there may be something wrong with my system.
I have a XP1800+ CPU, 256 MB RAM, 1 GB Swapfile, running Windows XP
SP1 and SETI@Home 3.08 with graphics as screensaver. My system uses
about 30 hours CPU-time pr. packet, isn't that a bit too long?
First, the graphics uses as much as 40-50% of the processor. The best
configuration is to set it to go to a blank screen after a short time, or
even immediately. See the screen saver settings (it's not in the client
screen. It's on the screen saver settings screen.)
For best results, and if you are computer literate enough, use the CLI with
any of the add-ons. The WinNT version works on all modern versions of
windows and is considerably faster.
