First, the graphics uses as much as 40-50% of the processor. The best
configuration is to set it to go to a blank screen after a short time, or
even immediately. See the screen saver settings (it's not in the client
screen. It's on the screen saver settings screen.)

For best results, and if you are computer literate enough, use the CLI with
any of the add-ons. The WinNT version works on all modern versions of
windows and is considerably faster.

There must be more to Carl's problem than just using the screensaver,
though; without displaying graphics it should only take four or five
hours per WU on a machine with that kind of clock speed (and even
with graphics on all the time I wouldn't expect the speed to be worse
than halved), so something else is apparently slowing things down several-fold.
