Isn't it cuaused by spyware?

You can use task-manager(when windows) or something like that to check
if other program (spyware) is consuming your CPU cycles.
To start task manager of windows 2K, right click the task-bar. Select
"process" and then "cpu" column to sort the processes that consume your
CPU. If the biggest consumer of your CPU is NOT setiathome, check if the
cunsumer is a right program for you.

You can download softwares on the internet that will wash spyware out
from your PC, Adware, etc. Please serch it by the keyword "spyware".

What else is running in the background - and consuming CPU cycles?
Do you know how to "turn things off" using Ctl+Alt+Del, and use MSCONFIG to
experiment?

I read about the speed others process their SETI packets, and I think

there

may be something wrong with my system.

I have a XP1800+ CPU, 256 MB RAM, 1 GB Swapfile, running Windows XP SP1

and

SETI@Home 3.08 with graphics as screensaver. My system uses about 30 hours
CPU-time pr. packet, isn't that a bit too long?
