What firewall are you running?
Firestarter.
Mandrake's shorewall is fine. It is also a good introduction to iptables
if you look underneith the GUI.
I'm aware of that, but IP tables are too advanced for me right now. I
switched to Linux about three weeks ago.
When I enable Shorewall, nothing gets in or out. No browser, email, news,
nothing. Firestarter is so much easier.
I'm running the CLI - SetiSpy - SetiQueue combination under Wine with
KDE. (The Gnome desktop gives a few funnies with my setup.) Look up the
Wine Mandrake rpm via http://www.winehq.com
How bad is the performance hit with wine, both generally and with seti in
particular? I had decided not to use wine (instead just rebooting to
windows when necessary), but if worse comes to worse I might try it.
