It's not MS Blaster, it's the SOBIG.F email worm. MS Blaster and
Wachia (the anti-blaster disaster) target the RPC port instead of
doing a ping.
Okay, whichever, I wish it would just DIE. ;-)

I'm on a dialup link; I've been seeing 300 or more pings in an evening
from
SOBIG.F. The spam filter at work is trapping over 500 email attempts per
day;
I'm using the 'virus & spam' filter at BTinternet & it seems to wok fairly
well - some spam gets through, which I eliminate with 'mailwasher', but I
haven't seen any viruses...
the firewall is blocking the ping traffic.
This they just let through. :-(
See if you can turn off ICMP responses in your modem;
if activity is determined by outgoing traffic, that would
solve your problem.
No option available unfortunately. :-(
