The good thing is, that SETI does not need to be installed.
Just unpack the Files of the Archive into a Directory, give setiathome the needed
permissions (Terminal : chmod command, or with a GUI Filemanager) so it can be executed
and read/write, and you're basically set.
If you have an existing user_info.sah, copy it alongside, and it should be ready to crunch
right away :)
Note :
As far as I know, SETI can only be run from a Terminal/Shell (just clicking it from a GUI
will silently launch it, but it will do nothing from personal experience).
After opening a Shell/Terminal, when in the Directory, it is launched by entering "
./setiathome "
Of course, feel free to rename the Directory (a bit unhandy named by default) and/or the
File for ease of use.
I hope that covers all the woes that one can encounter when using Seti for Linux for the
first time.
(those are basically the ones I encountered)
