Hmpf...

Finally got the time to setup one of my PW-433a machines.
Since I had nothing else for the Moment (and an identical, 2nd machine not setup yet), I
took one of my WinNT discs to see how it works.

Installation was easy meat, but it turns out to perform far below par, about ~17-18 hours
for a 0.491AR Unit :p

to SETI timer and TLC Benchmark list entries)

Anyone running a similar setup ?

hi
our alpha and unix admin is running about 9 alphas, compaq tru64 unix.
imho the slowest machine is 266mhz - about >10 hours and the fastest
is a pw433a - about near 8 hours.
a few months ago we had running seti on a dual alpha 667mhz - near 5
hours each processor.
i am on holidays by now, so i cant give you more specifications on
those machines (cache, memory etc)
afair winnt is a little bit slow on alpha. this can be your problem.
try unix or download a 64bit unix version (if it is downloadable -
dont know) we have suse for alpha cds, but not installed.
