What the hell are you talking about?
The way Linux runs, a regular user contracting a virus can't damage the
whole system.
If there was a security exploit in something allowing somebody to do
something they aren't allowed to do, anybody interested easily finds out
as it makes the tech news circuit pretty darned fast.
Linux heads not acknowledging existence of Linux viruses... heh...
