Agreed and, to correct and expand on my original post:

I've found in many forums it helps a lot if you change the title
    Change "many" to "_SOME_" forums.  Albiet few and far between.

I've observed that, generally, by the time you get near the end of a long
thread -
 the problem's not only been solved -  the topic itself has changed totally
(at least once!).

One group changes the prefix to [OT] (for "Off Topic") when the topic
diverges
and, then continues down the new sub-thread stream  and/or goes back to the
original topic.

HOWEVER, things is what they is and so I leave you by quoting "Sowulo":
