You say you're using i586 architecture, but it's a Pentium 3? If it's a
P3, it's actually i686-compatable. Anything Pentium and higher by Intel
is i686 compatable.
FWIW, I believe the 3.08 client is actually compiled to *only* run on
i686 architecture and above, I don't think it'll run on an i586-class
chip.
it seems the only choice is i686-pc-linux-gnu (3.08) now
but it is dynamically linked against glibc-2.2
.. so running ./setiathome returns me the error:
/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.2' not found
Yeah, you can either install glibc in there (likely side-by-side with
your libc-2.1) or just stick with the 3.03 client. I'm sticking with
3.03, myself, as I really see no reason to upgrade to 3.08.
