Pentium Pro and Pentium II are where i686 began; the original
Socket 7 Pentiums, up to the 233MHz MMX, were i586.
My mistake, you're right.
It's been too long since I've had any i586 hardware running anything
that cared if it were i386 or i686.... pretty much they just run Windoze
98... *sigh* ...
