I just back to 98% after going down due to a couple of months

months ?
did your computer explode or something
Its taken that long to get everything running again at a decent
speed 8o( Learnt an important lesson, always use a surge
protector (one that protects the phone line too)!!! I fried the
whole system and my budget would not stretch to a new PC.
Homeowners insurance usually covers replacing equipment damaged by
power surges.....I help clients with insurance claims fairly often.
The problem was it was the MB that had fried instantly and I
decided I could get a new one for less than I would lost claiming
(excess + loss of no claims). Unfortunatly the rest of the system
had been damaged and over the next month everything died one
part at a time, I just kept patching it up with old parts until it was
running about as fast as a ZX81! Eventually I got rid of all the
knackered stuff and could start gradually getting new stuff. Also
I claimed for a complete new system about 4 years ago, so I did
not want the hassle of claiming for another (I am ex-customer
services of an insurance company, so I know how they can be)
