3)  Your post didn't really need to quote the whole freakin' message, 
including whitespace at the bottom.  It's considered proper netiquette 
to trim what you quote to just what you're responding to.

4)  A:  The most annoying thing on usenet.
    Q:  What's top-posting?

I should say, though, your wish to want to warn and help folks before 
they ran in to problems was commendable.
