they prob made 100mhz p3s too, not of interest to me though :)

FWIW, they did.

My farm has two dual PIII 1GHz systems of a planned four (Gigabyte
GA-6VTXDs) running as internet servers and running S@h at idle priority.
They're mildly overclockable but I generally have them running as rated.
Each processor typically completes a WU in about 9 1/2 hours.

The mobo is capable of accepting the FC-PGA2 Tualatins but replacing four
new processors just isn't worth the performance increase at this point.

The system specs are online here for anyone who's interested:

Greetings newsreader...I did find you spec interesting...

Assume you are running win2k since you listed motherboard monitor. How are
you booting off the lan? Some time ago I looked into attempting to boot
from the lan but would have had to program the nic to do that. Does the
6VTXD bios support booting easily from a server? I would be interested in
learning how you did that as you mentioned using the lan for the hard drive.

I recently noticed that computer geeks has some of those SMP tulatin P3
http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=238888-B21-N at a decent price,
but I am not sure if the heat sink would clear the components in my GVTXD's.
It would appear from the wording of the ad that the heat sink was
permanently attached to the CPU.
