Hi all
I am in process of receiving a linux computer. I was told it is "E-machine"
with 600Mhz P3 processor and 10Gb hard drive. Computer itself is about 3-4
years old. Does it make sense to add such old computer to my small farm( 3
comp ). I have no knowledge about Linux at all and I would not know how to
install and run Seti Driver . Any suggestions will be very welcome.
That should crunch a unit in about 9 hours, depending upon just how
bad the chipset is, with the Linux CLI. It's faster than half the
systems in my farm.
As to whether or not you want to add it, that's up to you.
You won't be able to use SETI Driver with it unless you install WINE;
SETI Driver is a Windows program. I just have the Linux/IRIX nodes in
my farm proxying to a SETI Queue system. While I lose a few seconds,
at LAN speeds I don't think it's significant.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
