Is there any info re CPU live if used at full bor. (seti)
or at low usage as most of the time if not calculating seti?
almost at 10000

If operated 24/7 and given adeqate cooling, (without too much overclocking),
then in my experience the CPU will outlive the motherboard components
(capacitors mainly). I beleive that eventually the CPU will fail due to a
process similar to electrolysis but I am no expert in this field (or
computing generally for that matter), but I find I have PII and PIIIs which
have all outlived their motherboards and have been overclocked and run 24/7
for 3 or more years and are now so cheap on E-Bay that service life has
never been an issue with the CPU itself, (provided you provide adequate
cooling, which I think goes a bit beyond what the large department type
stores offer, extra case fan, larger CPU heatsink/fan and better thermal
transfer compound) then CPU. I have only run a P4 24/7 (slightly
overclocked) for about 20 months flat out (re-boot once every month or so)
but expect its reliability to be the same, and besides, it too is now
falling well behind (obsolete) in benchmark terms. As a foot note I estimate
it costs me about 50/box/year to run seti. And in the winter I need three
boxes to keep the shed warm, in the summer I only run two and pull the air
in from outside to cool the boxes.
