I own two pc's that I run Seti on. One is a Gateway running Win98se that has
a 1ghz Pentium III and 512mb ram, and the other is an HP running WinXP Home
with an Athlon 3000 and 1gb ram. The Gateway takes about 10 hours to
complete 1 work unit, while the much faster HP takes 24 to 30 hours. I have
both set to process all the time. Why is this, and is there some way I could
speed up the processing on the HP?
TIA

Quite simple: for some reason the HP machine stops processing after a while, or there is less idle time to process in.

Check that you do not have a screensaver running and that you do not have energy management set to turn off your hdd...
